PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a photosensitive heat developable image forming material which has high contrast and small changes in the performance against changes in a heat developing temp. and which is used for photoengraving, especially for a scanner and an image setter. SOLUTION: This photosensitive heat developable image forming material has a nonphotosensitive org. silver salt and a photosensitive silver halide on a supporting body. In this case, a photosensitive layer containing the photosensitive silver halide and/or its adjacent layers contain at least one kind of a compd. selected from a substd. alkene deriv. of a specified structure, a substd. isooxazole deriv. and a specified acetal compds. and contains a compd. expressed by R-SM (wherein R is a heterocyclic group and M is a hydrogen atom or an alkali metal atom) by >=6×10<-2> mol and >=1 mol per 1 mol of silver.
