PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic file distribution system, its method and a machine readable recording medium which records an electronic file distribution program that can have processing capability of a server terminal improved for a distribution demand of an electronic file from plural client terminals. SOLUTION: A client terminal 71 directly accesses a client terminal 72 and receives distribution of an electronic file when it is known by retrieving its own electronic file management list that the electronic file is held by the client terminal 72. When there are no terminal data where the electronic file is held in its own electronic file management list, the client terminal 7 accesses a server 4. When the server 4 retrieves its own electronic file management list and the terminal where the electronic file is held is the client terminal 72, it has the client terminal 72 perform distribution of the electronic file.
