MAGNETO-RESISTIVE MAGNETIC HEAD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce Barkhausen noise and the electric resistance of the head itself by burying conductors into groove sections and specifying the positional relationship between an MR element and the grooves. SOLUTION: The head is provided with a magneto-resistive element, a pair of conductors 6a and 6b which are electrically connected to the both end sections of the element, and a pair of soft magnetic substrates which hold the element through insulating layers 4 and 8. The leading conductors are buried and formed in groove sections 3a and 3b formed in at least one of the substrates. The interval between the sections 3a and 3b and the element is set to be more than 0.1μm and less than 5μm.
