The chuck has a clamping sleeve, non-rotatably connected to a clamping disc (22) and held rotatably on a free end of a drive element (14) and which through rotation braces the tool (19) between the drive element end and the disc. A torsion spring (23) acts on the drive element and sleeve on respective hands. A tool ejector is non-rotatably guided in the drive element and simultaneously, in the chuck open state, locks the sleeve (21) with the disc against rotation by a tensed torsion spring. The locking is cancelled by axial displacement of the tool ejector, which sets in when a tool shank is inserted into the clamping disc insertion opening. The rear face of the clamping disc, directed towards the free end of the drive element, takes the form of a flat clamping face cooperating with the clamping straps (192, 193) of a clamped tool and the rotational connection between the drive element and the clamping sleeve is effected via a steep-lead-angle thread. Upon rotation of the sleeve effected by a torsion spring, which acts on the drive element and sleeve on respective hands, a sufficient axial displacement of the disc for bracing the tool is achieved.
