Magnetic field detector for use with moving magnetic part

The detector includes a magnetic field generator (26), a moving part (25) made of magnetic material with projections and recesses that cause the magnetic field produced by the magnetic field generator to change. A magnetic field measuring device (24) has several measuring elements (24a,b) for detecting changes in the magnetic field when the moving part is displaced. A magnetic guide (28) is provided for adjusting the changes in magnetic field. The moving part may be a rotary part. The measuring device may be a giant magnetoresistance device.
