PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift controller of an automatic transmission capable of simplifying a program of control to be performed with shift of an automatic transmission. SOLUTION: The shift controller of an automatic transmission is provided with a shift judging means (steps 1, 3) for judging whether the shift is performed to the automatic transmission or not on the basis of the traveling state of a vehicle, and a program selecting means (steps 4 to 6) for selecting a program corresponding to the specified control contents with the shift of the automatic transmission when judgment for performing the shift to the automatic transmission is held by the shift judging means (the steps 1, 3). The program is composed on a plurality of sub programs independent for each shift type.
