PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently form patterns of bands, strings, stripes, and the likes on the whole surface area of a substrate surface by different types of coating materials at low cost. SOLUTION: This transfer coating apparatus comprises a transfer roll E so installed as to transversely cross the surface of a substrateβand a coating material-bearing roll D having approximately the same width as that of the transfer roll E and installed at a slight gap from the transfer roll E. The transfer roll E and the coating material bearing roll D are rotated to transfer the patterns formed on the surface of the coating material-bearing roll D by different types of coating materials to the transfer roll E. Further, while the patterns being transferred from the transfer roll E to the surface of the substrateβ, the substrateβis moved in the longitudinal direction to continuously carry out transfer coating.
