PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition with high whiteness prevented from discoloration by incorporating a hydrous polyphenylene sulfide resin (PPS resin) with a specified amount of a hypophosphite salt solute. SOLUTION: This composition is obtained by incorporating (A) 100 pts.wt., on a dry basis, of a hydrous PPS resin containing pref. >=5 wt.% of moisture with (B) 0.01-3 pts.wt. of a hypophosphite salt (e.g. sodium hypophosphite, calcium hypophosphite) pref. in the form of a solution with a concentration of 0.1-50 wt.% followed by drying; wherein in the component A, the PPS resin pref. contain recurring unit of the formula at >=70 mol.%. Furthermore, incorporation of this composition with (C) an alkoxysilane compound bearing functional group selected from epoxy, amino isocyanate, hydroxyl, mercapto and ureido groups (e.g.γ-glycidoxypropyl trimethoxysilane) improves the mechanical strength of this composition. |
