An apparatus for recovering floating liquid such as high viscosity oil, comprising: an oil receiving reservoir (2) for storing recovered oil, a drum frame (3), preferably of generally cylindrical form, rotatable about its longitudinal axis (5, 6) and arranged adjacent the reservoir, at least one and preferably a plurality of vanes (1) spaced about the circumference of the drum frame (3), so as to rotate therewith, means for rotating the drum frame in a direction which moves the or each vane (1) through the oil to be recovered and subsequently past the reservoir (2) to move oil into the reservoir, the or each vane being arranged on the drum frame so that the vane changes its orientation with respect to the drum frame in dependence upon the position of the vane in the cycle of rotation of the drum frame. |
