PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently clean an optical sensor provided in a card passage and a clearance around it only by using a cleaning card and running the cleaning card normally. SOLUTION: At the time of cleaning the optical sensor 2 of a card reader 1 in which the optical sensor 2 having a light transmissive cover 31 is arranged in the card passage 4 in the state of exposing the peak part 31a of the cover 31 to the card passage 4, a bristle-like member 63 for sensor cleaning is attached to the position corresponding to the optical sensor 2 of the cleaning card 6 to be traveled on the card passage 4 and the cleaning card 6 is traveled on the card passage 4, so that the clearance 5 formed between the cover 31 and the card passage 4 is cleaned. |
