PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for controlling locking by communication between a portable telephone set main body and an external medium. SOLUTION: When a lock setting key 124 in an external medium is operated, a control section 121 sends a lock setting request signal, the control section 111 of a portable telephone set main body has a step where the control section 111 receives the signal and sends an ID inquiry signal, and a control section 121 has a step where the control section 121 receives the signal within a timeαafter the transmission of a request signal, and the control section 121 sends an ID reply signal and collates the received ID so long as the control section 111 receives the signal in a timeβafter the transmission of the ID inquiry signal via a transmission reception section 112, and sets locking if they match.
