PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide antireflection optical function to cope with the larger size demand and make the surface hardly contaminated by flattening the tops of protrusions on a light incident surface of a cover glass. SOLUTION: A float glass plate 1 is pasted to a polishing base wheel through gypsum, ground by a grinder through a slurry of water and sand and then through a slurry of water and alundam to roughen the glass surface. In a primary treatment, the surface roughness is large and the surface is so rough as to cause troubles such as easily contaminating the glass surface in use, and hence it is further polished by a polisher having an urethane pad interposed with a slurry of water and Ce oxide, this polisher has a spindle at the center in the flowing direction of the polishing step and a plurality of polishers attached to the main shaft and a second polishing treatment flattens the tops of the protrusions. |
