PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a synchronizing signal pattern which shows a track jump position by a simple method and also in an easily reading way in an optical recording disk that needs a track jump every time the disk makes one rotation. SOLUTION: This optical recording disk has a recording layer on the surface of a disk-shaped substrate 2, at least one rugged area 2b on which a rugged pattern is formed exists on the substrate surface of non-recording area and the area 2b is arranged so as to adjoin a smooth area in a peripheral direction. The area 2b is preferably concentric with the substrate 2 in an arc shape and the rugged pattern preferably includes plural grooves or plural projections which extend in the peripheral direction of the substrate 2.
