The piston has a jacket with a main thrust side jacket region (20) and an auxiliary thrust side jacket region (22). The projecting circumferential width of the secondary region is greater than that of the main region. The piston jacket is so made that the minimum thickness of the auxiliary thrust side jacket region is less than that of the main side one.
