The shock absorber has and comprises a cylinder (1) filled with a compressible elastomeric fluid, in whose end a piston is guided, and whose depth of immersion is designated by the pressure in the cylinder. An escape opening is opened for the fluid when a predetermined depth of immersion is reached. One area (9) of the piston rod has a smaller diameter and is longer than an area (3) without a reduced diameter.
