A joint sealing strip consists of a foam, typically polyurethane, impregnated with a mixture of two material types. A first component consists of a substance which is insol. in water, e.g. asphalt-bitumen, tar, plastic or wax. A second component consists of a hydrophilic substance, e.g. bentonite which swells in water. The components are applied as a mixture onto the foam. USE/ADVANTAGE - As a sealing material for the building industry, particularly for sealing joints. Improved sealing characteristics in comparison to previous sealing strips.
