PURPOSE: To make it possible to view a data nondisplay area distinctively by displaying the data nondisplay area at low luminance level when a screen of a selected mode is smaller than the physical screen of the plasma display. CONSTITUTION: This system is equipped with a switching means 2 for display mode switching accompanied by a setting change in display timing and a means which displays the nondisplay area on the physical screen of the plasma display PDP except the display screen of the changed display mode with a specific intermediate gradation when the display resolution of the display mode changed by the means is lower than the display resolution of the screen of the plasma display PDP, i.e., a CPU 1 and a palette 14. Consequently, an area display of the effective display screen in each display mode can be made distinctive. |
