PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To construct a bent retaining wall while ensuring the stability that the retaining wall having a gradient has in the retaining wall and a concrete block for retaining wall, and green a concrete retaining wall surface by a more rational means. SOLUTION: Both side fringes 5 of a concrete block which is hat-shaped orΩ-shaped when viewed in a plan are brought into contact with side fringes 5 of an adjacent block having the same shape, and they are arranged in parallel and are stacked as required to construct a retaining wall. The constructed retaining wall 11 is wave-shaped when viewed in a plan, and a projecting part and a recessed part are alternately formed on a front face of the retaining wall. An amount of projection Q of the projecting part is large at a lower end and small at an upper end to form a gradient stabilizing the retaining wall. A base 2 of the block is a vertical face and the side fringe 5 in its end part is vertical so that the bent retaining wall is formed by providing an angle between adjacent blocks. High trees are planted in the recessed part 12 on the front face of the retaining wall to prevent overheating of a retaining wall surface and create the environment in which trees are abundant.
