SYNTHESIS OF CELLULOSE FROM SUCROSE BY RECOMBINANT MUTANT SUCROSE SYNTHASE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for, efficiently and economically, obtaining cellulosic material from sucrose using recombinant mutant sucrose synthase and cellulase. SOLUTION: This method comprises the steps of (1) producing VDP-glucose from sucrose by recombinant mutant sucrose synthase, and (2) making cellulase act on the obtained VDP-glucose.
