PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding member which has such a low friction coefficient as not to damage the mating surface even under sliding conditions with a highload and no lubrication by using a composite which comprises a fiber aggregate contg. fluororesin fibers having a specified single yarn diameter and a specified amt. of a synthetic resin. SOLUTION: The single yarn diameter of the fluororesin fiber is 50μm, and a composite prepd. by compositing a fiber aggregate contg. the fluororesin fibers with a synthetic resin is used for the sliding member. The content of the resin in the composite is 20-70 wt.%. The synthetic resin used may be thermoplastic or thermosetting. The content of the fluororesin fibers in the aggregate is pref. 40 wt. % or higher. The fluororesin fibers are pref. the fibers of a PTFE resin. The fiber aggregate is a sheet-like product made of fibers, and is pref. a fabric, a knit, a felt, or a nonwoven fabric. The density of the aggregate is pref. 0.1-1.5 g/cm<3> . Pref., the resulting composite has a coefficient of dynamic friction of 0.2 or lower. |
