PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for sizing fibers to produce sized fibers small in the number of fluffs, excellent in smoothness, excellent in abrasion resistance, and also excellent in weaving performance. SOLUTION: This method for sizing fibers comprises sizing the fibers with a sizing agent composition containing (A) a carboxyl group-containing polyvinyl alcohol-based resin and (B) a specific sorbitan fatty acid ester compound, treating the sized fibers with an oiling agent, and subsequently drying the treated fibers. Therein, the carboxyl group-containing polyvinyl alcohol-based resin has a carboxyl group content of preferably 0.1-10 mol.%, more preferably 0.5-5 mol.%, and an average polymerization degree of preferably 100-10,000, more preferably 300-3,000. The sorbitan fatty acid ester compound B is compounded in an amount of preferably 0.1-20 pts.wt., more preferably 2-10 pts.wt., per 100 pts.wt. of the carboxyl group-containing polyvinyl alcohol-based resin A. |
