PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound, a red-colored fluorescent compound of high color purity, and useful as e.g. an organic electroluminescent element material which is capable of high-luminance, highly efficient light emission by low-voltage driving, excellent in stability in repeated uses and capable of high-luminance, highly efficient light emission even if made by coating means. SOLUTION: This new compound is shown by formula I [R1 to R9 and R are each H or a substituent; A is an aromatic ring-including heterocycle; X is O or S; L1 and L2 are each a (substituted) methine; (n) is 1 or 2], e.g. a compound of formula II. The compound of formula I is obtained, for example, in the case of the compound of formula II, by reaction between 2,6-dimethyl-γ- pyrone and 2-cyanomethyl benzoxazole in acetic anhydride under heating reflux to form a compound of formula III, which, in turn, is reacted with a compound of formula IV in ethanol in the presence of piperidine under heating reflux.
