The chair lift has at least one device (80) for turning the seat section (14) of the chair (12) in relation to its suspension component (18) during the circular movement of the carrying and haulage cable (10). A device is provided for locking the seat section in at least two different rotated positions in relation to the suspension component, and mechanisms (77,78) are provided to release and re-activate the lock. The seat is rotated and then locked again after the lock is released. An Independent claim is included for a chair which has the proposed seat rotation device.
