摘要 Removal of undesirable components from a gas stream by adsorption uses a molecular sieve formed by adsorptive pellets through which heating wires are threaded. A molecular sieve in the form of loose pellets (8), together with catalytic particles, is sandwiched between two layers (9) of foamed ceramic that is porous, heat resistant and electrically insulating. Heating wire (13) is threaded in a regular pattern through the pellets, passing over ceramic tubes (11). Intermediate spacers could also be provided. Several layers of heating wire could be used. Power to these wires is supplied at 230 or 400 volts, avoiding the need for a transformer. The edges are closed by layers of non-fibrous material (4,6) as electrical insulators and fibrous, flexible, material (3,5) for sealing and compensation for thermal expansion. The assembly is contained in a stainless steel housing.
