PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery such that the leaking of an organic electrolyte can be prevented by improving electrode tubs serving as the terminals of the battery and the sealed structure of a case. SOLUTION: A secondary battery includes an electrode assembly 20 formed by a structure in which anode plates, cathode plates, and separators are laminated and having electrode tubs 23, 23' for introducing formed currents to the outside, a case 30 consisting of an upper case part 30a and a lower case part 30b and sealing the electrode assembly 20 by joining the edge of the upper case part 30a with the edge of the lower case part 30b while exposing a part of each electrode tub 23, 23' to the outside, and sealing materials 25, 25' coating predetermined areas of the electrode tubs 23, 23' by predetermined widths and interposed between the edge of the upper case part 30a and the edge of the lower case part 30b at their junction to prevent the leaking of an organic electrolyte. Therefore, the leaking of the organic electrolyte can be prevented efficiently by improving the sealing characteristic between the electrode tubs 23, 23' and the case 30. Thus, the charge and discharge characteristic and life characteristic of the battery are improved. |
