PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pencil-type vertical marking apparatus easier to handle and small in structure in a building site, the marking apparatus has a projection tube vertically supported by a plurality of support legs through a gyro mechanism to set up in the vertical direction. SOLUTION: The inside faces 2c of three support legs 2 openably mounted through a gyro mechanism 3 on the top end 1a of a projection tube 1 are formed in the same curved faces as the outside face of the projection tube 1. The support legs takes a pencil type slender shape on the whole when closed. with the support legs opened, they can perform making in the vertical direction. When the legs are closed and hold member having a leveling string is fixed to the lower end 2b thereof, the marking apparatus can be utilized as a plumb and also as a pointer.
