The transmitter (1), connected to a control element such as a pedal, has a hydraulic chamber (9) containing a piston (8) with a seal (18). The chamber is extended axially to connect with a fluid reservoir (45), the two being enclosed in the same housing (14). The reservoir contains sufficient hydraulic fluid to cover the seal (18) and part (16) of the transmission mechanism, the other part being located outside the housing and connected to the inner part by a coupling above the fluid level.
