PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide excellent sealing performance through prevention of deformation of an elastic lip of a seal segment even under a high pressure and provide an increased life. SOLUTION: A rotary shaft seal comprises a seal element 2 having a seal lip 21 having a helical groove 22 formed in a contact surface with a rotary shaft 10, a seal segment 3 arranged on the fluid side of the seal element 2 and having an elastic lip 31 in approximately linear contact with the rotary shaft 10, and a pressure reduction seal 5 arranged on the fluid side of the seal segment 3 and having a plurality of annular recessed grooves 51 formed on the rotary shaft 10 side. The rotary shaft seal is held by and formed between an outer case 1 to cover the outer peripheral sides of respective seal members and an inner case 4 arranged inside the outer case 1. |
