The guest is supplied with a data card (1) that has a date card number, price, etc. The card is activated in coding unit (5) that is linked to a computer (9). The card may now be presented for use in the service facility, e.g. restaurant. A hand held unit (6) can be used to check the validity of the card. Finally the card may be entered into a reader (7) to enter the cost of the service.
