<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve reliability and to reduce a cost by controlling the quantity of maintenance operating cells to insert to a fixed cell stream in an equipment communicating through the use of a fixed cell, so as to prevent the abolition of user cells and the staying of excessive cells at the buffer of a speed conversion part and so as to reduce the buffer. SOLUTION: In the communication equipment 1 communicating through a line 6 through the use of the fixed length cells, the maintenance operating cell for monitor- controlling a line 6 generated by a maintenance operating cell generating part 2 is inserted to the fixed length cell stream whose direction is regulated by the line 6 by a maintenance operating cell insertion part 3 and a speed conversion part 4 converts a transmission speed. At this time, a maintenance operating cell insertion control part 5 controls to enable inserting the maintenance operating cell with a prescribed timing, if the difference between the number of the fixed cells outputted from the part 4 to the line 6 and the number of the user cells is not more than a fixed number. Thereby the abolishing rate of the user cells is improved and the quantity of buffers for speed conversion at the exit of a line is suppressed to be low.</p> |
