Electronic traffic signal with illuminated red ring superimposed on mandatory signals

A standard, electronically controlled traffic signal (5) over a motorway lane displays a range of mandatory signals. An additional face (6) is bolted onto the front so that the red circle associated with signs giving orders is superimposed over the old rectangular format. The circle is formed of segments (7) containing LEDs.
