The invention relates to a device for vacuum refining molten metal, especially molten steel, by blowing oxygen onto the bath surface, possibly with a simultaneous supply of heat, for example by means of a combination lance. Said lance extends from above into a vacuum vessel in such a way that the distance from the lance to the bath surface is at least 6 metres. The advantage of this great distance is that the especially sensitive lance tip is less exposed to damage by splashing slag or steel, temperature losses are reduced and the device is simpler to construct. |
