PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the convenience and working efficiency of a user by preventing overhead due to the useless repetition of a request for the communication of the number of valid packets which can be transmitted and received between an information processor and an outputting device in a printing system having an information processor and an outputting device for operating print output. SOLUTION: Plural communication channels are provided between a host device (information processor) 1 and a printer device (outputting device) 15 for operating print output according to data from the host device 1. Then, the number of packets which can be mutually transmitted and received is checked for each communication channel, and when any packet which can be transmitted from the host device 1 to the printer device 15 is absent, a request for the communication of the number of valid packets is issued to the printer device 15 after the lapse of a prescribed waiting time, and a waiting time for issuing the next request for the communication of the number of packets is adjusted according to the number of packets obtained from the request and the waiting time. |
