PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium ion secondary battery having a high energy density and excellent charge and discharge characteristics. SOLUTION: In a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, a lithium- containing silicon oxide to be used as negative electrode active material is used as a working electrode 5 to reduce a capacity relative to a positive electrode by use of its overdischarge resistant characteristic. Further, a lithium- containing titanium sulfide to be used as positive electrode active material is used as a counter electrode 3 to prevent lithium from being excessively inserted into the titanium sulfide which serves as the positive electrode at the end of the discharge of the battery, to thereby avoid cycle deterioration. |
