The W.C. is cleaned and dried after use by a unit (8) with water spray nozzles and a warm air grille deployed from behind a hinged panel (6) set in a vertical frame (2) behind it. A mechanism (10, 11) synchronizes the opening of the hinged panel and the deployment of the cleaning and drying unit, returning them to their initial positions afterwards. It also controls the automatic operation of the cleaning and drying cycle which directs water jets onto the seat and round the W.C. bowl and dries the seat with warm air fed though a flexible pipe (15).
