PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone set to which a function which is capable of making a calculation can be given without hindering the miniaturization and cost reduction of the telephone set with an increased number of key switches, etc. SOLUTION: A portable telephone set is provided with a jog dial 5 which can be rotated and pressed down, a key switch group 6 containing dial keys, and an LCD 7. When the jog dial 5 is operated, the telephone set is set to a calculation mode, in which the telephone set makes calculation in accordance with a calculating function program stored in a flash memory 12 incorporated in the telephone set. In the calculation mode, a menu of operation signs is displayed on the LCD 7, when the jog dial 5 is operated after a figure is inputted by pressing down dial keys, so that an operation sign is selected by further operating the jog dial 5, the arithmetic operation corresponding to the operation sign is carried out. |
