PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impart velveteen-like optical effect to a vinyl chloride sheet. SOLUTION: A vinyl chloride sheet or an observer is freely turned while the angle formed by the surface of the vinyl chloride sheet and the observer is held to 90 deg. to observe the surface of the vinyl chloride sheet to form an aggregate of grooves wherein a plurality of grooves comprising straight and curved lines having a predetermined depth are irregularily combined on the surface of the vinyl chloride sheet horizontally and vertically and the contact points of the horizontal and vertical parts are continued to allow the horizontal and vertical parts to be present non-uniformly in an arbitrary ratio.
