PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable stable casting without sticking of a solidification shell and to obtain a thin slab having good quality by providing the side part ingates for forming the melt feeding section of a continuous casting apparatus with conductive refractories on the side in contact with molten metal and high-frequency coils arranged on the outer side thereof. SOLUTION: The continuous casting apparatus of a vertical type twin roll system is arranged with the conductive refractories 8 on the side in contact with the molten metal of the side part ingates 7 and the high-frequency coils 9 on the outer side of the conductive refractories 8. When the high-frequency coils 9 having the intrinsic resistance of 600 to 2000μΩ/cm is energized with a high-frequency current, the induced current flows concentrically near to the surface of the conductive refractories 8 on the high-frequency coil side and the conductive refractories 8 are heated. The conductive refractories 8 of the side part ingates 7 in contact with the molten metal are preheated to 1100 to 1400 deg.C in surface temp. before the molten metal is poured into the melt feeding section. As a result, the adhesion of the solidification shell of the molten metal to the conductive refractories 8 of the side part ingates 7 just after the start of the pouring of the molten metal is prevented.
