The free end of the shaft has a tool holding shaft section (5), with an abutment washer (9) between the bit and tool holding section.The tool has at least one polishing disc (1) of a flexible material, with a central opening (4) to fit over the shaft without free play, and fit against the washer.A nut (11), which has projecting peripheral wedge pins (15), is screwed to the free end of the shaft. The nut plate (13) bears against the polishing disc to press it against the washer and force the wedge pins into the polishing disc. The polishing disc can be nonwoven or felted and can be bonded by a synthetic resin and can contain additional grinding granules
