The tank consists of a sealed inner container (10) which is not sufficiently resistant to high pressure to prevent it deforming, and an outer supporting shell (12) which covers the greater proportion of the container's outer surface and has a honeycomb core (14) between two layers (16,18) of sheet material. The honeycomb core can be made from aluminium or lightweight alloy, aramid resins, polyethylene terephthalate, polyether etherketone, or composition materials made from plastics, fibres and cardboard. The core can be made in different thicknesses or from different materials in different parts of the outer shell. |
