1. A method for protecting large-capacity steel containers against corrosion in an electrolyte environment, generating an initial protective layer containing calcium, silicon and iron compounds on the protected surface, with an initial minimum cathode protection current intensity determined on the basis of the minimum cathode polarisation value necessary to achieve the required level of protection over the anticipated term of usage, wherein the structure being protected is polarised in multiple stages using a minimum of two cathode polarisation stages, with the first stage using I1 current equal in value (3/30 percent) to I0 , the second stage using I2 current equal in value (20/80 percent) to I1, and the third stage using I3 current equal in value (20/80 percent) to I2, whereas further current changes are conducted in stages, automatically or via other known methods in such manner that cathode polarisation on the entire surface being protected is maintained near the predetermined minimum value ΔΕmin. |
