摘要 The honeycomb structure (9) has dividing walls (90) containing cordierite as the main component having a composition of: 45-55 wt.% silica (SiO2), 33-42 wt.% alumina (Al2O3) and 12-18 wt.% magnesium oxide (MgO), in the form of a honeycomb (99). The dividing walls have a thickness of not more than 250 micro m and a porosity of 45-80%. An Independent claim is also included for the production of the honeycomb structure comprising adding and kneading binder and water with the starting materials for cordierite, extruding the material and calcining to form the dividing walls in the form of honeycombs containing 45-55 wt.% SiO2, 33-42 wt.% Al2O3 and 12-18 wt.% MgO. The starting materials for cordierite also contain 5-15 wt.% combustible carbon particles.
