The invention relates to a method for transmitting useful data from a data source to a data sink. The data is transmitted in data packets (54; VC-4) via a transmission channel (14; 21) and the inventive method comprises the following steps: dividing the useful data into useful data packets (C-4); adding a control information area (POH) to each useful data packet (C-4), one data packet (54; VC-4) being made up of a useful data packet (C-4) and the corresponding control information area (POH); transmitting the data packets (54; VC-4) via the transmission channel; removing the control information area (POH) from each data packet (54; VC-4) and evaluating it and outputting (27) the useful data packets (C-4) as useful data, the control information area (POH) comprising a bit sequence (H4) which corresponds to the numbering of the data packets (54; VC-4) and the received data packets (54; VC-4) being sorted according to said bit sequence (H4) before the useful data packets (C-4) are output. |
