A liquid-cooled internal rotor machine having a housing (1) closed by a bearing shield or plate (4,5), a stator laminations stack (2) fixed in the housing and rotor shaft (8) rotatably mounted in the bearing shields. A liquid coolant inlet and outlet are provided at (11) and (16), respectively. The coolant liquid is supplied via at least one liquid inlet channel (11) and enters into the machine through outlet openings (12-15) from above. The heated coolant is removed from the machine through floor-side drainage openings (17-20) and the liquid outlet (16) with the liquid level in the machine housing constantly maintained. The stator stack (2) and the rotor stack (9) each consists of at least two part stacks (2',2'',2''' and 9',9'',9''') which are separated from one another by spacers (21,22,23,23',24), in which radial coolant gaps (28-31) are formed in the lamination stacks (2,9).
