PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a printer in which printing can be carried out up to the bottom margin through an extremely simple control without lowering the print speed. SOLUTION: In a printer 10 where print operation is carried out while receiving 1 swath of print data sequentially from a driver 20 at the time of print operation, an ASIC 11 being controlled by a CPU 12 executes print operation according to the number of steps corresponding to a line feed width set in a feed register 112 when print sheets are being detected by a paper sensor 16 and sustains print operation even after the rear end of a print sheet is detected by the paper sensor 16 by driving a stepping motor, i.e., a feed motor 17, furthermore by a number of steps set in a bottom register 111.
