PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an intercalation complex having electric conductivity by putting oxidized graphite in an aq. alkali soln., enlarging the interlayer distance of the oxidized graphite, adding a polymerizable monomer capable of forming an electrically conductive high molecular compd. and polymerizing the monomer. SOLUTION: Oxidized graphite is dispersed in an aq. alkali soln. and the interlayer distance of the oxidized graphite is enlarged preferably by irradiating it with ultrasonic waves. A polymerizable monomer capable of forming an electrically conductive high molecular compd. such as aniline, pyrrole or acetylene and a polymn. initiator such as persulfate, a ferric salt, hydrogen peroxide or dichromate are added and the monomer is polymerized between the enlarged layers of the graphite to obtain the objective intercalation complex in which at least a part of the formed electrically conductive high molecular compd. bonds chemically to the oxidized graphite and the high molecular compd. is taken in between the layers of the graphite. The interlayer distance of the oxidized graphite is 0.7-0.9 nm in the air and the interlayer distance of the intercalation complex is larger than that of the graphite by 0.3-0.4 nm. |
