Porphyrin compounds and their use in high-field MRI

The present invention relates to the use, in magnetic resonance imaging employing a field greater than 1.5 Tesla, of a porphyrin compound of the following general formula I in which R₀ and R'₀ are such that the compound is soluble in a biological medium, and M denotes a paramagnetic metal ion, advantageously Mn³⁺. The present invention also relates to novel porphyrin compounds.
