PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording head an upper face of which can be cleaned good, thereby achieving stable recording characteristics without consuming ink undesirably. SOLUTION: A recording head 1 has a piezoelectric element 15 for generating ultrasonic waves, a base 12 loading the piezoelectric element 15, a lens member 20 layered on the piezoelectric element 15 for condensing the ultrasonic waves and, an ink chamber member having a slit 10 formed at a condensation position of the ultrasonic waves to extend in a main scan direction of the head 1. Ink is supplied from an ink tank 4 via a feed tube 6 to the recording head 1. The ink tank 4 is held to be movable up, down by a lift mechanism 30. When an upper face of the recording head 1 is to be cleaned, the ink tank is lowered and a part of the ink supplied into the recording head 1 is collected to the ink tank 4, thereby lowering a liquid level of the ink located at an upper end of the slit 10. |
