PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently perform an elevator drive in a high rise building by setting a moving section in the middle position of an elevator shaft, transferring a car from a lower guide rail to an upper guide rail, and vertically moving the car by an independent rope. SOLUTION: Paired elevator cars 30, 31 are connected to ropes 34, 35 by couplers 32, 33, and interlockingly raised and lowered through the ropes 34, 35. A counter weight 36, 37 is connected to each rope 34, 35, respectively, so as to be driven by independent traction mechanisms 38, 39, and each car 30, 31 is vertically guided along paired rails 40, 41. The rails 40, 41 erected between upper and lower landings 42, 43 are bent in the middle position, and in this moving section 44, the car is moved from a first elevator shaft having one coupler 32 or 33 to a second elevator shaft having the other coupler 33 or 32. |
