PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a high resolution characteristic by a simple circuit. SOLUTION: A decoding section 1 decodes an image signal series VS and motion vector information MV from a signal BTS. A vector conversion section 2 and a pixel unit motion vector generating section 3 generate a motion vector PV in the unit of pixels based on the motion vector information MV. A coefficient setting section 4 sets values of mixture ratios K,1-K based on a scalar amount |PV| of a motion vector in the unit of pixels. A moving image interpolation signal generating section 5 generates a signal MS by in-field processing and a still image interpolation signal generating section 6 generates a signal SS by inter-field processing. A coefficient weight section 7-1 multiplies the mixing rate K with the signal MS and a coefficient weight section 7-2 multiplies the mixing rate (1-K) with the signal SS and an adder section 8 sums both the multiplied signals and provides an output of an interpolation scanning line signal IP. A multiplexer section 9 applies signal processing to the image signal series VS and the interpolation scanning line signal IP and provides an output of a sequential scanning image signal series VP. |
